Calculating the Costs

Why does the Hanfparade need money?

As much as we would like to have it any other way - without money we can not organise a demonstration, especially if it is to have resonant results. We have assembled here what we believe to be inevitable costs so you know exactly how we actually spend your donations and sponsorship money.

Organisation Parade Vehicle: 1000 Euro. A diversely utilised parade float will be the heart of the parade: It will lead us through Berlin as a control, guide and sound vehicle, rolling stage and speaker podium. Therefore, it must be of a certain size, decoration and be a grand, relevant asset to appropriately implement the program so all of us benefit from the contributions of the speakers and the political songs. Add to that the costs for the approval certificate (TÜV), power and the driver.

A decent stage including power, lighting, PA costs and the stage program will account for 9000 Euro. GEMA is the society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights. It collects fees e.g. from organisers for the public performance of works by the artists they represent - which includes the majority of most well known musicians. So, money for music that is not being performed live by performers during the Hanfparade also needs to be paid.

We have accounted 300 Euro for press kits including radio- video clips, copying and office expenses, etc. The materials for conducting management tasks receive around 50 Euro.

This year we also plan for Hanfparade T-shirts with which you can express your open sympathy ;-). This requires 700 Euro. The price for printing posters, flyers and stickers is about 4500 Euro.

If we want a market to show the opportunities, we need electricity, water and the appropriate possibilities for market stalls. In the ideal case the market will cover itself but initial costs will need to be covered. Paramedics and toilets are also very important as well as a civil liability insurance (Veranstalterhaftpflichtversicherung) 5000 Euro.

A part of the final rally will be reserved for Cannabis patients and their doctors to present this relationship and inform the public about the medicinal use of Cannabis, 2000 Euro. Fun is also on the program and a separate Kinderland area will provide for plenty of interest amongst the young which will account for 500 Euro.

The agricultural hemp show area is a show place for industrial, cosmetic and historical use of the Cannabis plant: it necessary to reserve 2000 Euro for materials, information copies and options for displays. So far, the industrial hemp area will be organised by the Hanf Museum Berlin.
